Valle di Fiemme enjoys a great tradition for the cross-country ski and can be considered the cradle of the Italian face of this sport, as well.
In this valley, lots of excellent athletes were born: Franco Nones, Giulietto Deflorian, Bice and Giorgio Vanzetta, Antonella Confortola and Cristian Zorzi.

The famous "Marcialonga", one of the cross-country skiing marathons, has been building its history along Valle di Fiemme and Valle di Fassa for almost 40 years.

In Lago di Tesero, for over 50 years, we have been preparing the tracks, in order to practise this sport in the best way. In the Cross Country Centre in Lago di Tesero, we hosted the successful Nordic Ski World Championships in 1991 and 2003, besides a large amount of Nordic Ski and Nordic Combined World Cup competitions, national races and other races dedicated to children and young people. It also represents the intermediate goal of Marcialonga, it hosts Trofeo Topolino, Minimarcialonga; and, in the past, it hosted Lowlander World Championships, "Trofeo delle 6 Nazioni", many editions of the Absolute and the Youth Italian Championships and others more.

The favourable position of the stadium and our great experience for the snow producing system always guarantee well-prepared tracks and the annual opening of the centre from December to mid-March.

In the most recent years, we registered over than 25.000 people coming and ski. That's why we decided to favour the flow of people further on, by connecting the permanent tracks to the cycling lane and to Marcialonga's course. Then, a powerful lightening installation gets people to ski also in the evening.

The centre has also an ice stadium, a furnished ski rental, showers, toilettes, waxing rooms, dressing rooms, an appreciated restaurant, snowmobiles parks and offices for the organizing service.

The snow producing system

One of the most powerful and avant-guard snow producing system of all the resorts that organize cross-country races guarantees snowy tracks all along the winter season, in spite of the stadium's 850 metres above sea level.

The centre has 8 low-pressure sheds and 6 booms which are managed almost exclusively by a computer.

A 20-year experience has always assured an optimal snow production all the time, both for the quality and the quantity of snow-covering.

The backup tracks are at 1.850 metres above the sea level, in the appreciated Centro del Fondo del Passo di Lavazè

Tour de Ski "Final Climb"

Since 2007, Tour de Ski's final lap has run along the tracks of Valle di Fiemme. The most important ski event of the season, at the third place after the Olympic Games and the Ski World Championships, comes to its end in the first days of January, on the "final climb", everyone's greatest effort as it pushes the athletes up on the downhill slope called Olimpia3 of Alpe di Cermis, after racing a part of the cross-country tracks in the stadium in Lago di Tesero and along Marcialonga's course, which leads them to the foot of this last 3 km. - the hardest indeed - of the final climb.

Tour de Ski is an event that renovated the cross-country in an efficient and winning way, by introducing a new exhilarating and engaging form of competing: the final climb, a finishing line that leaves both the skiers and the public... breathless!
